Panino con salsiccia, peperoni e cipolle (sandwich with sausage, peppers and onions)

This is really tasty and delicious, you will be not able to stop eating it!

As the majority of Italian Antipasti, this is really quick and easy to make. 

However, it is really important to choose the right ingredients, especially the sausage!
It must be Italian (not just because we are talking about Italian recipes, Italian sausages don't have any additional spices inside). 
For this recipe I use the Italian sausage with Chianti flavour (I found it on, if you don't like the Chianti flavour you have a problem :) I'm joking, you can use the plain one.

Serves: 2 people


  • Sausage: 1 roll is enough
  • Hamburger bread (the one with sesame on the top): 4
  • Yellow peppers: 2
  • Onion: 1
  • Red wine: half glass
  • Extra virgin olive oil 

Cominciamo! (let's start)

    1. Cut the sausage into 8 pieces (big enough to fit into the bread)
    2. Cut the onion into thin slices 
    3. Wash the peppers, remove the seeds and cut them into thin slices
    4. Prepare a frying pan with olive oil, add the sausages and the wine and cover with the lid for 10 minutes, keeping an eye on them because they can't dry too soon. Turn the sausages a couple of times
    5. Cut the bread in a half and grill it for a couple of minutes (if you don't have the grill you can use a frying pan) 
    6. In a small frying pan put the onion slices and let them brown
    7. Add the peppers to the onion and let them cook together
    8. Remove the lid from the sausages and let them dry
    9. Prepare the bottom of the bread on a plate and add the peppers, the onions and the sausages, then cover with the top of the bread

If you like it you can add a slice of Emmental cheese, tabasco and mayonnaise.

This dish is amazing with Soave Classico La Rocca Pieropan which helps washing the mouth and it's acidity balances the flavours of the peppers and onions.
